Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jourdan Lewis, who spent eight seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, signed a three-year, $30 million contract that includes $20 million guaranteed. As he gears up for the 2025 season with his new team, Lewis drew attention with his reaction to Micah Parsons’ trade to the Green Bay Packers.
Parsons, a four-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro, was traded from the Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. When reporters asked Jourdan Lewis about the deal during his first media appearance since the trade, he pointed to longtime Cowboys owner Jerry Jones while reacting to Dallas’ choice to move Parsons after contract negotiations broke down, per ESPN’s Michael DiRocco.
Jaguars CB Jourdan Lewis on former teammate Micah Parsons trade: “It's Jerry's World, man. It is definitely a surprise. Micah, I thought he was going to be a staple for a long time, but I feel like feelings get sour and things went south. So it's the NFL. Anything can happen."

“It’s Jerry’s World, man. It is definitely a surprise. Micah, I thought he was going to be a staple for a long time, but I feel like feelings get sour, and things went south. So it’s the NFL. Anything can happen,” Lewis remarked.
Many expected Jerry Jones and Micah Parsons to strike a deal before the 2025 season kicked off, but those talks collapsed as Parsons dropped cryptic hints about his future on social media. Lewis, however, seemed unfazed by the failed negotiations. His perspective may come from experience, as he is preparing for his first year in the NFL without a Cowboys uniform.
After eight years with the Cowboys, Lewis moved on, and when asked about Parsons’ trade to the Packers, the first name he brought up in his reaction was the team’s owner, Jerry Jones.
A player of Parsons’ caliber rarely hits the market, and it is even rarer for Green Bay to be the team that secures such a talent. The Packers have traditionally relied on drafting and developing their own stars, which makes the Parsons trade a potential landmark moment in franchise history as one of their most significant outside acquisitions.
Parsons and the Packers confirmed that the former Defensive Rookie of the Year will take the field in jersey number one, marking the first time a player on Green Bay’s active roster has worn that number since franchise founder Curly Lambeau sported it nearly a century ago in 1926.
