Former Patriots QB shares big Tom Brady comeback update

There's yet another sign that NFL living legend Tom Brady truly is retired for good this time around.

Former New England Patriots quarterback Scott Zolak revealed during the "Zolak & Bertrand" 98.5 The Sports Hub program that the Minnesota Vikings "reached out" to Brady after they lost starting signal-caller Kirk Cousins to a season-ending torn Achilles on Oct. 29.

"Yeah, he’s done," Zolak said about Brady, per Adam London of NESN.

The Vikings ultimately acquired Joshua Dobbs from the Arizona Cardinals before the NFL trade deadline passed on Oct. 31 and sit at 6-5 with Dobbs atop the depth chart. As for Brady, it was suggested as recently as last week that the San Francisco 49ers were interested in signing the seven-time Super Bowl champion as a free agent when Brock Purdy was in the early days of his recovery from surgery he needed to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow this past March.

While the Vikings are moving forward with Dobbs, both the 5-5 Cincinnati Bengals and the 7-3 Cleveland Browns will be without their star starting quarterbacks through the rest of this season. Some linked Brady with those AFC North clubs late last week, but Zolak's update indicates the 46-year-old doesn't have another comeback in him.

Brady dealt with multiple physical setbacks along with off-the-field issues related to his divorce while with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season and is currently preparing to work as Fox's lead NFL analyst next year. It's also believed he could become a limited partner of the Las Vegas Raiders as soon as during the next league meetings scheduled for December if NFL team owners approve what likely will need to be an amended agreement with Raiders principal owner Mark Davis.

As much as even a few teams may think the current version of Brady could help them pursue Super Bowl dreams, it seems he's no closer to taking another meaningful snap than he was when he announced his second retirement in February of this year.
