The Minnesota Vikings have confirmed that Kirk Cousins tore his Achilles tendon during Sunday's win over the Green Bay Packers.

In an update posted early Monday afternoon, the Vikings said Cousins underwent an MRI at Twin Cities Orthopedics that confirmed the tear.

"The timeline and details of his upcoming surgery will be determined this week," the Vikings said.

Kevin O'Connell is set to speak to the media at 1 p.m.

Rookie quarterback Jaren Hall took over for Cousins after he left the game in the fourth quarter.

Hall is set to lead the Vikings in Sunday's visit to the Atlanta Falcons, though there is still 24 hours left before the trade deadline.
