Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool announces his NFL comeback plan in a revealing social media post

If feels like both years ago and just yesterday that Chase Claypool was one of the more promising wide receivers in the league as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers

It has been a long, winding road since then and Claypool is currently without an NFL team.

He doesn't plan on that lasting, however...

Claypool sets eyes on NFL comeback

I tore a ligament and a tendon in my second toe and have been rehabbing, working out, and recovering every day for the past year. I am back to being the strongest and fastest I’ve ever been and couldn’t be more excited to step back out on the field and let my actions speak for themselves. I deeply and truly believe that the pieces will align, and I will work my way into the position to show off what’s been suppressed these last two years.

Since leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers, Claypool had stints with the Chicago Bears, where he was traded for a second-round pick, the Miami Dolphins, and most recently the Buffalo Bills, though he never played in an actual game in Buffalo.

The toe injury he had clearly set him back and others have pointed to some of the off-field things like his podcast appearances or mentality.

The facts are, however, Claypool just turned 27 this week, is a former second-round pick, has two seasons where he netted over 100 targets, and once logged nearly 1,000 yards and nine TDs with the Steelers.

Right or wrong, you do that, with his pedigree and measurables, you will get second chances in the league and third and fourth chances.

What is to be determined is if Claypool will get a fifth chance. It's the time of year where we see these things happen, and with training camp coming up, I wouldn't be shocked if Claypool is back in the league soon.
