Good Bets For Opening Night Of The 2025 NFL Season

The NFL is officially back on Thursday with an NFC East rivalry game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys. Jerry Jones is fresh off trading the Cowboys’ best player, and now they have to watch a divisional rival hang a Super Bowl banner. That should be bulletin board material for Dallas. These bets are a lock on Thursday night.

5. Dak Prescott 230+ Passing Yards (-165)

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has averaged over 230 passing yards for seven straight seasons. Thursday night’s game script will call for a heavy passing attack from Dallas. Prescott has great weapons this season, and throwing for 230 yards should be automatic. He averages 261.6 passing yards per game against the Eagles in his career.

4. Ceedee Lamb 60+ Receiving Yards (-197)

Ceedee Lamb always plays well against the Eagles. Throughout his career, he averages 74.8 receiving yards per game against Philadelphia, and that won’t decrease in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season. Lamb is Prescott’s go-to weapon. George Pickens should be able to pull some eyes off of Lamb, leading to a big night for WR1 in Week 1.

3. Dak Prescott 2+ Passing TDs (+110)

Prescott has to play well if Dallas wants to win. A big season for Prescott begins in Week 1. He averages 1.8 touchdown passes per game against the Eagles throughout his career, and he has two or more in his last five starts against them. Prescott will be slinging it in Week 1. He doesn’t have much of a choice.

2. DeVonta Smith 50+ Receiving Yards (-160)

DeVonta Smith loves playing the Dallas Cowboys. He averaged 60.5 receiving yards per game against them in his career. He’s never averaged less than 50 receiving yards per game in his career. While the Cowboys focus on Saquon Barkley and AJ Brown, Smith will get his opportunities to torch them.

1. DeVonta Smith Anytime TD (+175)

Smith is no stranger to the endzone. He has found it six times in eight career games against the Cowboys. In his four seasons in the NFL, Smith has scored a Week One touchdown in two of them. Dallas won’t be able to keep track of all the weapons that the Philadelphia offense possesses. Smith will find the endzone in Week One.

End Of My NFL Rant

A parlay of all five legs adds up to +850 on DraftKings Sportsbook. The NFL is the best sport in the world to bet on, but nothing is ever guaranteed. None of these legs is crazy to imagine happening. The Cowboys will likely be down and will throw the ball frequently. DeVonta Smith is Philadelphia’s silent assassin. The NFL is officially back.
