It’s the dawn of a new era for the Green Bay Packers. Fans feel that exciting times are ahead and that the Vince Lombardi Trophy is there for the taking for the team after the Packers successfully pulled off a groundshaking trade last week, one that brought superstar linebacker Micah Parsons to Wisconsin.
There is no question that Parsons is a huge addition to the Packers. He could be the missing piece that bridges the Packers to a Super Bowl title.
Of course, winning the Super Bowl is always going to be easier said than done, but Parsons’ arrival, at least on paper, puts Green Bay closer to the ultimate goal in the NFL.
If anything, his presence on the field for Green Bay elevates those playing alongside him on the team’s defense, like young linebacker Edgerrin Cooper.
Entering his second year in the NFL, Cooper carries big expectations on his shoulders after a solid rookie campaign. He played in 14 games in 2024 and recorded 3.5 sacks and seven quarterback hits, while getting an 84.0 overall grade and a 90.1 rating in the pass rush department. He could be a much dangerous weapon out there on the field for the Packers, with Parsons getting most of the attention from the opposing teams.

Parsons brings an element of speed to Green Bay’s defense that was enhanced last year when linebacker Edgerrin Cooper was healthy and playing regularly. Cooper proved tough to block as both a blitzer and attacking run defender, which will no longer be a secret in his second season, but with another speed demon like Parsons coming from elsewhere …
“Nightmares for the offensive side of the ball,” Cooper said. “I feel like Haf’s gonna have a pretty fun time with us, so ready to look towards that.
The Detroit Lions will be the first to take the test of facing a Parsons-infused Green Bay defense, as they visit the Packers on Sunday at Lambeau Field.
