Micah Parsons’ trade to the Green Bay Packers isn’t the only reason why he’s been grabbing headlines of late; it’s also because of his staggering contract extension with his new team.
After the Dallas Cowboys traded him to the Packers in exchange for veteran defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two future first-round picks, Parsons signed an eye-popping $186 million extension deal with Green Bay, one that comes with $136 million of guaranteed money.
The four-time Pro Bowler has a cap hit of $19.237 million in the first year of that extension. That rises to $26.845 million in 2027, to $64.288 million in 2028 and to $68.288 million in 2029.
Green Bay believes that the investment they made in Parsons will be reciprocated by the linebacker with incredible play on the field, beginning in the 2025 season.
The Packers posted an image of Parsons last Friday, showing the former Penn State Nittany Lions star signing the contract.
“1 of 1,” the post’s caption read.

That spot garnered a ton of attention on social media for obvious reasons. At the time of this writing, it has collected over 212,000 likes, including one from Cleveland Browns superstar Myles Garrett, who knows a thing or two about signing big contracts.
Garrett, who finished second in the NFL in 2024 with 14.0 sacks, inked a four-year, $160 million contract extension with the Browns in March.
Interestingly, Parsons and Garrett will see each other in Week 3 of the 2025 NFL season, with the Packers visiting the Browns at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland.
