Jakobi Meyers given surprisingly low rank on free agents list

Unless things change within the next few months, Jakobi Meyers is headed into his final season as a Las Vegas Raider in 2025.

Meyers has been pushing to get a contract extension done, but he and the Raiders have been unable to push a deal across the finish line. Hoping to put the pressure on the Raiders, Meyers has already requested a trade. However, the team has already said that Meyers is too important to their offense to accept any trade offers, so it sounds like Meyers will have to wait until March for his next payday.

Should he hit the open market as expected, however, he might find a surprisingly crowded market for wide receivers.

Meyers will have to push to be more desirable than other wide receivers.

In his list of the top 25 free agents in 2026, NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks placed Meyers at a respectable No. 17 rank.

“Meyers wanted a raise from the Raiders and then requested a trade when he didn’t get it. He’s rare as a No. 2/3 receiver who has shown he can fit in any style of offense,” wrote Brooks.

Despite appearing on the list, Meyers ranks as the fifth wide receiver in what appears to be a loaded group in the upcoming free agency class.

Currently, Meyers ranks below George Pickens (Dallas Cowboys), Rashid Shaheed (New Orleans Saints), Mike Evans (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and Alec Pierce (Indianapolis Colts). However, Meyers has put together more consistent production in his career than Shaheed and Pierce have so far, and he does not have the reported attitude problems that Pickens has been flagged for. Teams might have questions about Meyers heading into his age-30 season in 2026, but there is no reason to suggest that a dropoff is coming.

Meyers should still be in line for a substantial raise next season, whether that is on the Raiders’ dime or otherwise.
