Jaxson Dart and the New York Giants are in search of their next head coach. John Harbaugh, who was recently fired by the Baltimore Ravens, has emerged as one of New York’s top candidates for the job vacancy.

On Wednesday, news emerged about the Giants’ latest move in their chase for Harbaugh. The front office reportedly met with the Super Bowl-winning coach on Wednesday. As it turns out, Dart was included in the process.

Dart has firmly established himself as the Giants’ new cornerstone quarterback after an impressive rookie campaign. New York’s decision on its next head coach will be geared toward the objective of bringing out the best in the 22-year-old QB.

After starting the season on the bench, Dart took the QB1 role from Russell Wilson three games into the campaign. Former head coach Brian Daboll needed a spark after Wilson’s 0-3 start, leading to Daboll’s decision to hand over the reins to Dart.

The former Ole Miss Rebels star answered the call. Dart played 14 games in his rookie year, registering 216-of-339 completed passes (63.7%) for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also added 487 yards and nine rushing TDs on 86 carries.

Dart finished his first season in the NFL with a 4-8 QB record. He has been nominated for the Rookie of the Year title.

According to a report by Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, Dart joined the Giants’ meeting with Harbaugh on Wednesday. The young quarterback is “part of the push to land the biggest fish in the coaching pool.”

ESPN’s Dan Graziano confirmed that Harbaugh has already spoken to Dart. The 63-year-old coach was reportedly in New Jersey on Wednesday to meet with team officials in an “extensive interview.” Harbaugh reportedly plans to fly home to Baltimore on Wednesday night and will meet with other teams in the coming days.

Harbaugh, who parted ways with the Ravens after they missed the playoffs for the first time in four years, has been linked to multiple teams apart from the Giants. The Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns and Tennessee Titans have all been mentioned as potential landing spots for him.

Harbaugh coached the Ravens for 18 years before he was fired. During that span, he amassed a 180-113 record. He led Baltimore to a Super Bowl title during the 2012 season. He won Coach of the Year in 2019.
