Jets select WR Elijah Moore at No. 34
The Jets got a playmaker in WR Elijah Moore. Nelson Chenault-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets now have that traditional and electric slot receiver in former Mississippi star Elijah Moore. New York selected the smallish pass-catcher with the 34th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft Friday evening.

More represents a tremendous fit in new offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur’s system. He’s only going to help rookie No. 2 pick Zach Wilson do his thing under center.

After showing out big-time at Mississippi’s pro day, the 5-foot-9 Moore was getting some play as a first-round pick leading up to the 2021 NFL Draft. Solely limited to the slot due to his size, we’re talking about a dynamic receiver who gains separation at the line and provides big windows for his quarterback to throw through on intermediate routes. He also boasts surprisingly strong arms for someone his size and can be used out of the backfield.

Last season alone for Mississippi, Moore tallied 86 receptions for 1,193 yards and eight touchdowns in just eight games. He’s going to be a huge asset for Wilson and the New York Jets. Moore was our 28th-ranked prospect leading up to the draft.
