Garoppolo went 6-of-8 for 77 yards passing on Sunday. For the entire game. With that incredible stat, he set a new record for fewest pass attempts in conference championship history, per ESPN’s Trey Wingo.
So Jimmy Garoppolo with 8 pass attempts in the game.. fewest ever in conference championship history.— trey wingo (@wingoz) January 20, 2020
Of course, Garoppolo didn’t need to throw much. The 49ers won the game 37-20, after all.
The big reason he didn’t have to do hardly anything you normally associate with an NFL quarterback is that Raheem Mostert also made NFL history with a legendary 220-yard, four-touchdown performance to power the 49ers to the big game.
Chances are, if the 49ers are going to beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Miami two weeks from now, Garoppolo will have to do a bit more than that to win the Super Bowl.
