Minnesota Vikings announce jersey number changes, including making Adam Thielen's official after the trade
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Vikings have announced eight number changes ahead of the start of the 2025 season, including wide receiver Adam Thielen, who was acquired via trade last week.

Minnesota Vikings announce jersey number changes

On the surface, number changes aren't crazy. That can be when it comes to fans buying jerseys of their favorite players. For others, the jerseys will be bought mostly by family and friends. In the case of Wentz, his jersey will sell like crazy in Fargo, North Dakota, as he graduated from NDSU.

The biggest one here is Thielen getting his number 19 back. It was inevitable that Thielen was going to wear his old number, as wide receiver Dontae Fleming wore 19 during the preseason. He is on the practice squad and will have his number changed.

Fans will be able to pull their 19 jerseys out and wear them over the course of the season. It's also going to be huge for fans who want to get themselves a new jersey, as they know he will have his old number.

The switch for Hargrave was likely to accommodate Richter wanting 98 back, as Hargrave wore 97 with the Philadelphia Eagles for part of his tenure there. It's not much different than 98, but 97 is a very clean number for a defensive tackle.
