One of the biggest moments of Monday night's game between the Baltimore Ravens and Detroit Lions involved star Ravens running back Derrick Henry losing a fumble deep in Baltimore territory with roughly 8:30 remaining in regulation when the hosts were trailing by four points.
That was the second time in three games that Henry was responsible for a costly fourth-quarter fumble and the third time in three contests that he put the ball on the ground. Following Baltimore's 38-30 loss that dropped the club to 1-2 on the season, Ravens tight end Mark Andrews defended Henry.
"It's tough," Andrews said while referencing how the fumble impacted Monday's game, per the Ravens' website. "We know the type of guy that [Henry] is, and there's no one harder on himself than Derrick is. We'll get right. These are the types of things that we'll be better at, and he's the best of the best, so I have complete trust in him."
Of course, Andrews knows a little bit about how Henry was feeling on Monday evening. Back in January, Andrews lost a fumble and then dropped a pass on what would have been a game-tying two-point conversion in the fourth quarter of what became Baltimore's 27-25 divisional-round playoff loss at the Buffalo Bills. Quarterback Lamar Jackson and other Ravens players routinely defended Andrews throughout 2025 as the 30-year-old was the subject of numerous trade rumors during the offseason.
"We have to be efficient," Andrews acknowledged after Monday's defeat. "We have to be able to punch back, take our punches [and] roll down the field. It didn't go our way [Monday]. I felt like the guys fought hard, and again, you have to give kudos to them. They played a good game."
The Ravens will now spend the midweek preparing for this coming Sunday's game at the 1-2 Kansas City Chiefs. As of Tuesday morning, ESPN BET had Baltimore as a 2.5-point favorite for that contest.
"There is no sense of disbelief in this locker room," Andrews added about how the team will respond following Monday's events. "It's a whole bunch of incredible players, coaches, and we're looking to get right and improve down the road."
