Sage Steele Calls Out Former ESPN Co-Worker For 'Classless' Behavior

Former "SportsCenter" anchor Sage Steele called out one of her co-workers Tuesday for being "classless" and "divisive."

Steele joined ESPN in 2007 and immediately became one of the top anchors on "SportsCenter." Her time with the network ended on rocky terms though. In 2021, she was suspended for public comments she made in regards to ESPN's vaccine mandate. By August 2023, the two sides went their separate ways.

"Having successfully settled my case with ESPN/Disney, I have decided to leave so I can exercise my first amendment rights more freely," Steele said in August 2023. "I am grateful for so many wonderful experiences over the past 16 years and am excited for my next chapter!"

Although she's no longer at ESPN, Steele is well aware of the drama involving Robert Griffin III and Ryan Clark. The latter legitimately called out the former for marrying a white woman.

"The one thing we know about RG3 is he’s not having conversations at his home about what Black women have to endure in this country. About what young Black women and athletes like Angel Reese have had to deal with being on the opposite side of Caitlin Clark’s rise and ascension into stardom," Clark said.

"If you’re RG3, when is the last time within your household you’ve had a conversation about what [Angel Reese is] dealing with? You haven’t been able to do that because in both of your marriages, you’ve been married to White women."

Steele made it clear who she's siding with. On Tuesday afternoon, she criticized Clark for his "shameful" behavior.

"Another classless, divisive, gross, unnecessary comment from Ryan Clark. But…it’s par for the course," Steele wrote on X. "We should expect nothing less. Shameful."

Clark and Steele were colleagues at ESPN from 2015-2023. The fact that she's not surprised by his remarks is telling.

ESPN has not commented on Clark's feud with Griffin. Some fans want him fired, but that seems unlikely.
