After going undrafted in the 2025 NFL draft, Shilo Sanders joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He first joined them for the preseason, but didn’t make the final cut.
The Buccaneers gave him a lucrative $2.69 million contract, which raised eyebrows around the league. Sanders managed to get his full salary (a signing bonus of signing bonus of $1,572 and a workout bonus of $4,830), but he couldn’t play a single snap in the regular season.
Moreover, he starred in a fight during the preseason finale, which marked the end of his stint with the NFC South franchise. Several months after his last experience in the league, Sanders opened up on his stance about trying again for the league.
In a recent conversation with a former teammate, Shilo Sanders explained why he is no longer training to return to the league.
“It takes a special kind of guy to see the light at the end of the tunnel and I don’t think there’s any light at the end of my tunnel,” he said.
The other player encouraged him to keep training, but Sanders didn’t sound too interested in that possibility.
