Jeffery Simmons is entering his seventh year in the NFL, all of which have been spent with the Tennessee Titans. He is currently the longest-tenured Titan on the team.
Entering the 2025 NFL season, Simmons, like a lot of Titans players, have some questions to answer. Whether it’s about their play, what they can or cannot do, or if they can affect winning.
Simmons is entering this season in incredible shape, having dropped roughly 20 pounds. But along with dropping weight and wanting to perform better this season, he is also looking forward to working with a talented young defensive lineman for the Titans, which he spoke about on Thursday’s edition of “Good Morning Football.”
“(T’Vondre) Sweat has so much potential,” Simmons said.
When the hosts of the show brought up Sweat and the incredible run he had after recovering a fumble against the Cincinnati Bengals’ quarterback Joe Burrow, Simmons had nothing but glowing things to say about Sweat.
“He’s a big kid that loves the game,” Simmons said. “I am excited to work with him and get back to training camp for Year 2.”
Along with the excitement of working with Sweat, who is entering his second season, Simmons also acknowledged that he is there to push the young player.
“It’s my job to keep trying to bring everything out of him that I know he has inside,” Simmons said.
Simmons sees a lot of potential in Sweat, and when looking at how he played last season, there are obvious reasons to be encouraged. He was solid against the run and showed that he can hustle and make plays, along with rushing the passer.
Sweat certainly has room to grow, so, luckily, he has someone like Simmons there to teach him the ropes going into Year 2 and provide the support he needs as well.
It will be interesting to see how the pairing of these two big men in the trenches comes together for the Titans.
