Titans’ Cam Ward involved in practice altercation with Jeffery Simmons

A to Z Sports’ Easton Freeze recounted the ordeal on X.

Ward reportedly got things started by shoving the veteran and doing his signature celebration after connecting with wide receiver Calvin Ridley. Simmons responded by returning the favor, which drew a reaction from the rest of the team.

The Titans made sure that video of the altercation won’t see the light of the day, and kept both men directly involved away from the media following the conclusion of practice — but their teammates provided some perspective.

Titans teammates give opposing reactions to fight between Cam Ward, Jeffery Simmons

Titans cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. was rather cavalier regarding the scuffle.

“I feel like it’s a great thing,” Brownlee said. “When you’ve got great teams, brothers fight. At the end of the day, as long as we all have got each other’s back, we all connected.

“We all got that bond. We all got that same connection where we’re gonna fight for one another, that’s the most important thing at the end of the day.”

“Absolutely not,” Dan Moore Jr. said of allowing anyone to touch Ward. “That goes without saying.”

Simmons reportedly has been engaged in ongoing trash-talk with the entire offense, but things aren’t necessarily as bad as they seem. Simmons and Ward took a fishing trip together a few weeks back, so you can probably chalk the altercation up to flared tempers.
