Tyreek Hill’s emergence as one of the NFL’s best wide receivers coincided with the arrival of quarterback Patrick Mahomes on the Kansas City Chiefs.
The two were an unstoppable duo, but after Hill was dealt to the Miami Dolphins, he somehow managed to elevate his game to new heights.
The electrifying wideout finished as a top five fantasy football wide receiver in each of his first two years in South Beach, even being an MVP candidate in 2023, but his production came to an abrupt halt last season.
Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missed much of the season, and with Hill dealing with injuries of his own, they fused to create one of the most disappointing seasons of the former Super Bowl champion’s career.
Hill failed to surpass 1,000 yards and after a very public trade request following the final game of last season, he and the team have had a rocky relationship ever since. He still remains in Miami, but wasn’t selected as a captain for the first time as a member of the Dolphins.

Miami’s players choose the captains, which could mean that Hill is losing some standing in the locker room.
This should be even more concerning for his fantasy owners because receivers over the age of 30 are already at a disadvantage, but a clear disconnect between player and team doesn’t seem conducive to fantasy success.
Conversely, his teammate Jaylen Waddle is much younger and seems more explosive at this stage in his career.
He had an excellent fantasy season as a rookie, but has failed to replicate that performance in the past two years with Hill being the No. 1 receiver and Tagovailoa dealing with injuries last year.
The decision to take away Hill’s captainship feels like one that will cause further damage between Hill and the team, which spells trouble for his fantasy outlook.
Last year, he failed to finish in the top 15 at his position in fantasy, and with his age and injury history, that doesn’t seem like an anomaly.
Combine that with the fact that Miami is set to have a much better rushing attack than in recent years and it sounds like Hill will be put on the back burner. He was once a consistent, reliable pick, but the vibes around his situation could not be any worse this season.
