Vikings giving Adrian Peterson ultimate honor this season

The Minnesota Vikings recently orchestrated a heartfelt surprise to inform franchise legend Adrian Peterson about his upcoming induction into the team’s Ring of Honor. Under the pretense of mentoring rookies, Peterson arrived at team headquarters, only to be met by Hall of Famer John Randle. Randle guided the iconic running back to a concealed display featuring his No. 28 jersey and a Ring of Honor travel bag. This surprise brought Peterson to tears, visibly emotional, as head coach Kevin O’Connell and team executives gathered to honor his remarkable legacy.

The organization has now officially confirmed the date for this prestigious honor. According to an announcement from the team on X, Peterson will be formally inducted into the Vikings Ring of Honor on November 9, 2026, during a crucial Monday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills at U.S. Bank Stadium, starting at 7:15 PM. Peterson, who spent ten seasons with the Vikings and set franchise records with 11,747 rushing yards and 97 touchdown runs, will be the 29th member to join this distinguished group. The special evening will also coincide with the team’s Salute to Service game, creating a grand occasion to celebrate the 2012 NFL MVP.
