Aaron Rodgers practices Thursday with taped thumb
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Aaron Rodgers missed Wednesday’s practice with a thumb injury. He sustained the injury on the last play of the Green Bay Packers' loss to the New York Giants in Week 5. On Wednesday, head coach Matt LaFleur told the media that he didn’t think Rodgers’ injury would be a concern come game day.

According to multiple reports, Rodgers was back at Packers practice on Thursday. ESPN reporter Rob Demovsky captured a video of Rodgers throwing at practice. Demovsky reported that Rodgers’ thumb was taped for practice.

Rodgers appears to be able to put some spin on the ball just fine, even with the tape. The Packers will need Rodgers to be prepared for a hot New York Jets team coming into Lambeau Field on Sunday. His injury should give the Packers more opportunity to test out their running game.

Rodgers and LaFleur received heavy criticism for not running the ball more in the loss to the Giants. The QB's thumb should continue to get better by game time, but the Packers should consider giving their running backs more carries against the Jets. Running backs Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon appear to want more carriers in critical situations going forward this season.
