Bardreau played his college hockey at Cornell University. In four seasons, he played in 103 games, recording 53 points on 18 goals and 35 assists. He was a plus-four with 82 penalty minutes. He played in 535 career AHL games over 11 seasons, having played with the Islanders/Sound Tigers and Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Bardreau recorded 216 points by scoring 97 goals and adding 119 assists. He is a -17 with five power-play goals, 16 shorthanded goals, nine game-winning goals, and 460 penalty minutes. Bardreau recorded three assists in 24 career Calder Cup Playoff games. He was a minus-four with 42 penalty minutes.
Bardreau made his NHL debut on October 19, 2019. He recorded his first career point on October 27th and his first career goal on November 5th. He recorded just two points in 11 career games; he finished with a minus-two rating, scored one game-winning goal, and logged eight penalty minutes.
