NHL Free Agency is a time for players to cash in, but it's not always hard leaving a team you've come to know, and for Lauren McDavid, it's even tougher.

Over the past few days, we've seen many players drastically change their circumstances in free agency, not only for them but their families as well, as some have had to pack up and move not only cities, but countries as well.

One of those players is veteran forward Connor Brown, who departs the Oilers after two seasons, heading to the New Jersey Devils on a very lucrative contract in free agency.

On social media, his partner Madison shared a heartwarming post about their time in Edmonton, using this caption for the post:

'Forever a special place in our hearts. Thanks for the best two years, Edmonton .'

Unsurprisingly, Brown's partner became close with the other wives and girlfriends of Oilers players, especially Lauren McDavid, the wife of captain Connor, who posted this in response.

'I hate this post going to miss u so much love youuuu.'

While fans are so often attached to the players that they see on the ice competing hard for their team, we often forget about the partners who have been there through it all, so it may be tough for a player to move on and change the entire situation for their families, it's tough on those around them as well.

Ultimately, it's refreshing to see this side of the situation for once, as it reminds fans that these players are human and have families that they need to take care of, and while that may not change the perspective of fans much, this is a good insight into how things are behind the scenes in professional sports.
