Daniel Sprong's time in the NHL may not have worked out, but now he's cashed in with the KHL, becoming one of the highest paid players in the league.

After being drafted in the second-round back in 2015, Daniel Sprong has bounced around in the NHL, playing for Pittsburgh, Anaheim, Washington, Seattle, Detroit, Vancouver and New Jersey.

In that time, the talented winger has appeared in 374 games, but after struggling to catch on in a consistent role, the 28-year old departed the National Hockey League this off-season, signing a new deal in the KHL.

This deal came after Sprong played for four different teams over the past two years, as it was clear that he needed a change after struggling to find a defined role in previous seasons.

Sprong gets big deal with CSKA Moscow

Now, a recent report from social media has revealed that he is among the highest paid players in the league, earning an AAV of $940,000 USD on his one-year contract.

While it may not be much in comparison to NHL salaries, to get this money playing in Europe is a big deal for the Dutch forward, who showed between 2022 and 2024 that he can be a genuine contributor on the wing.

In those two seasons, Sprong tallied a total of 39 goals and 89 points in 142 games played for Detroit and Seattle, but unfortunately, he wasn't able to stay healthy and consistent enough throughout his NHL career.

At 28-years of age, he'll look to play a valuable role for CSKA Moscow this season, and with time on his side, if he can impress, there's no reason why he couldn't find a role in the NHL once again.
