Tristan Jarry made history in the closing moments of the Pittsburgh Penguins come from behind victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
With time winding down, and an empty net at the opposite end of the ice, Jarry took a shot at the yawning cage and scored the first goalie goal in Penguins history.

Jarry nailed the shot to seal a 4-2 win and his teammates couldn’t hold back their excitement.

“It’s cool to be a part of that,” captain Sidney Crosby said. “You see it happen, but I’ve never seen it live and been a part of it. I’m really happy for him, and it’s pretty cool to see.”

Crosby was one of the players on the Penguins’ bench celebrating and had a smile on his face all the way into the locker room.
“Our bench was certainly loved it when it happened,” head coach Mike Sullivan said. “They were all fired up. It’s something that you don’t see that often, so those types of events are fun.”
Coach Sullivan: "This was a gutsy effort by the whole group. I thought our team competed hard. The pushback after the 1st period was terrific. We were proud of them. I thought we defended hard down the stretch. A lot of guys had really strong games for us." pic.twitter.com/hDCFJDnqXj

Sullivan can see a moment like Jarry’s goal as a way to bring the team together and help push for more success down the line.
The Penguins have struggled at certain points to start the season, and Jarry himself took some blame, but he’s bounced back for an outstanding month of November.
He capped off the solid month with a historical tally.
Jarry recently said that he didn’t have any plans on looking for a goal in the NHL, but he couldn’t pass up this opportunity.

“Just kind of a perfect scenario,” Jarry said. “They dumped it right on net. I didn’t have to stop it, I just shot it right on the fly.”
Of course, at the end of the day, the two points in the race for the playoffs is more important than a rare goal, but Jarry is happy with both outcomes.
“It’s something hat’s definitely something that’s pretty cool, but honestly, the win means more.”
Jarry is one of only a handful of goalies to score in the NHL; the Penguins all-time greatest goalie is nearing the end of his career and has always wanted to net one himself.
According to the Atheltic’s Rob Rossi, Marc-Andre Fleury is happy to see Jarry score saying it’s ‘awesome.’
