
Minnesota Wild head coach John Hynes told reporters following the team’s 5-0 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday that forward Vinnie Hinostroza suffered an injury and would be flying back to Minnesota to get reevaluated.

Hinostroza lef the game midway through the second period after taking a hit from Penguins’ defenseman Ryan Graves. He got up slowly and made it back to the bench, and did not return to the game.

He finished the game with two shots and 8:08 of ice time.
Through 22 games in 2025-26, Hinostroza has two goals and three assists for five points. Now in his 11th NHL season, Hinostroza has 61 goals and 105 assists for 166 points in 433 career regular-season games with the Wild, Penguins, Buffalo Sabres, Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers and Arizona Coyotes.
He has also played in nine Stanley Cup Playoff games, recording two assists.
A native of Chicago, Hinostroza was taken in the sixth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by his hometown Blackhawks. In parts of seven seasons in the AHL, he has 62 goals and 97 assists for 159 points in 188 career regular-season games with the Rockford IceHogs, Rochester Americans, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Milwaukee Admirals.
Hinostroza spent two seasons playing college hockey with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He scored 19 goals and 57 assists for 76 points in 76 career NCAA games.
He also spent three seasons in the USHL, where he scored 53 goals and 73 assists for 126 points in 151 regular-season games.
The Wild are 11-7-4 with 26 points through their first 22 games of the 2025-26 season. Kirill Kaprizov leads the team in assists and points with 14 and 26, respectively, while Matt Boldy has a team-leading 13 goals.
