The Edmonton Oilers have shared a hilarious video of inside the locker room after Connor McDavid recorded his 1000tg career point.
McDavid scored his 1,000th point against the Nashville Predators on Nov. 14, and when he got into the dressing room after the game, not a single Oiler said anything.
The video shows McDavid walking into the room with the Oilers getting undressed and wearing custom T-shirts with the Captain's face on them. McDavid cracked a smile once he saw what was happening.
After a few moments, McDavid's smile cracked wide open, and the room burst with excitement. It looked to be a great moment for the entire team.
On Thursday night, the Edmonton Oilers celebrated McDavid's 1000th point with a pregame ceremony as well.
McDavid's family joined him on ice as he was presented with a specialty stick for his achievements, along with several other gifts, and he earned a long ovation from the Oilers crowd.
McDavid received a flower bouquet from Leon Draisaitl, a custom Rolex watch, a charitable donation to the Ben Stelter Foundation, a Diamond from the NHL and more.
Since being drafted first overall in 2016, McDavid has surpassed every expectation to be a generational superstar for the Oilers. The Oilers will celebrate 1,000, but 2,000 career points isn't off the table, and a Hall of Fame celebration will be the bookend to his career.
McDavid hasn't talked about his contract negotiations with the Oilers throughout the year, as he's eligible to sign an extension at the end of this season. Recently, though, he said he's only interested in winning, and he's got a good chance of that in Edmonton.
This was one small opportunity to step back and appreciate the greatness of McDavid's career to this point.
