Caitlin Clark's rivalry with Angel Reese goes back to their college days.

Clark played her college basketball at Iowa and was playing Reese's school, LSU, in the 2023 National Championship Game when Reese pointed to her ring finger in front of Clark. It was a message that she was getting a ring and not Clark.

The two later played against one another in the Elite Eight of the 2024 NCAA Tournament with Iowa getting revenge on LSU.

After that, they got drafted in the WNBA and had multiple meetings this year, which were must-watch TV. Their rivalry continued in those games but Clark recently said in an interview that her controversy with Reese was "fabricated."

“I don’t get that at all,” Clark said, via TIME.com. “We’re not best friends, by any means, but we’re very respectful of one another. Yes, we have had tremendous battles. But when have I ever guarded her? And when has she guarded me?”

"The only thing people cared about was this controversy that was really fabricated and made up, and then that has continued to be the case ever since.”

TIME Magazine announced Clark as its Athlete of the Year due to how great she was in college and the WNBA. She helped Iowa get to the National Championship Game before she was selected first overall by the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

She won WNBA Rookie of the Year and led the Fever to the playoffs in her first year in the league.

Clark will be looking for more in her second season once that gets underway in the spring of 2025.
