Keshon Gilbert scored 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting, and No. 3 Iowa State cruised to an 83-51 win over Omaha in a nonconference matchup Sunday afternoon in Ames, Iowa.
Milan Momcilovic and Joshua Jefferson added 13 points apiece for Iowa State (9-1), which won its sixth game in a row. Tamin Lipsey finished with 11 points and Nate Heise chipped in 10 off the bench.
Tony Osburn scored 13 points to lead Omaha (4-9). Isaac Ondekane finished with 12 points and JJ White scored 10.
Iowa State shot 53.3% (32-of-60) from the field and 30% (6-of-20) from beyond the arc. Omaha shot 35.7% (20-of-56) overall and 26.1% (6-of-23) from deep.
The Cyclones outrebounded Iowa 39-27 and finished with a 50-20 advantage on points in the paint. Iowa State also posted a 24-11 edge in bench points.
Omaha started strong in the first 12 minutes.
Osburn had a steal and a layup to put the Mavericks on top 19-18 with 8:24 remaining in the first half. The basket capped a 9-2 run for Omaha.
Iowa State pulled even at 19-all when Momcilovic made one of two free-throw attempts with 7:49 left in the half. Gilbert put the Cyclones back on top 21-19 with a layup off an assist from Curtis Jones with 7:22 to go before the break.
The Cyclones never looked back as they led the rest of the way.
Gilbert gave Iowa State a 41-23 halftime lead when he made a layup with 15 seconds remaining before the intermission.
Omaha struggled to keep pace in the second half. The Mavericks fell behind by 30 when Iowa State's Brandon Chatfield scored on a layup to make it 75-45 with six minutes left.
Demarion Watson made a jump shot to increase Iowa State's lead to 81-51 with 2:44 remaining. Watson's basket ensured that the Cyclones have scored at least 80 points in each of their first 10 games to start the season.
Omaha's Marquel Sutton, who entered the game with a team-high 16.2 points per game, finished with three points on 1-for-7 shooting.
