Maxx Crosby has reportedly informed Tom Brady of final decision about future with Raiders

During Super Bowl week, a report surfaced claiming that Las Vegas Raiders star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby would look to leave the franchise this offseason, in part because he doesn't want to go through "another rebuild" with the club.

For a piece published on Monday, NFL insider Jason La Canfora of SportsBoom offered more information on Crosby's mindset.

What Maxx Crosby reportedly told Tom Brady about future with Raiders

"The Las Vegas Raiders and star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby are in a standoff, with Crosby refusing to play for the team again," La Canfora wrote.

La Canfora added that "one NFL general manager who would have interest in trading for Crosby" revealed that Crosby recently told living legend and Raiders minority owner Tom Brady that "he will never play for the Raiders again."

"That's a fact," the unnamed general manager said about Crosby. "He told them he'll retire before he ever plays for them again. But I'm not sure they're actually going to trade him. (Cleveland Browns pass-rusher) Myles Garrett said the same thing last year, and we know how that ended up."

Last winter, Garrett went public with a trade request and made it known he wanted to play for a championship contender. However, he eventually agreed to a four-year, $160M contract extension that included $123.5M guaranteed to stay with Cleveland.

This past August, pass-rusher Micah Parsons inked a four-year, $188M contract that included $136M guaranteed as part of being traded from the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers. In October, Aidan Hutchinson and the Detroit Lions agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $180M with $141M in guarantees.

Agent predicts how Maxx Crosby, Raiders saga may end

Crosby has played only for the Raiders since they drafted him in 2019, and he seemed serious about wanting to retire a one-club man until he was left "not happy" about being shut down before the end of the 2025 season due to a knee injury.

Crosby signed a three-year, $106.5M contract extension last offseason. According to La Canfora, one unnamed agent "who represents several top free agents in the upcoming market" thinks Brady could try to smooth things over with Crosby.

"I've done some sniffing around, and I know it's early, but I don't think the Raiders want to move him," the agent added. "Maybe I'll end up looking stupid for telling you this, but I don't think they move him."

Perhaps to-be Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak will be able to convince Crosby to give him at least one season to prove the franchise is headed in the right direction.
