Steph Curry to put pressure on Warriors with one desperate measure

Once again, Golden State Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. failed to land a big fish.

Dunleavy has only struck minor trades or moves for players past their prime, and it has taken a toll on Steph Curry's chances of winning another championship.

The Warriors' desire to stay competitive for the post-Curry era was an open secret, but now that they've openly said it, No. 30 may not be as happy with the organization.

That's why, according to The Athletic's Marcus Thompson II, he might use his impending contract extension as leverage to get some deals done.

"He wants to win. He wants the best team the Warriors can assemble around him," Thompson wrote. "He wants a chance, a real chance, for a deep playoff run. The longer it takes for him to sign a contract extension, the more you can bet Curry’s using potential free agency as a tool to keep the Warriors pushing toward that end."

Of course, Curry has always been a team-first guy, and perhaps that's why the Warriors don't seem to appreciate him this much.

Most modern-day stars would've already thrown the front office under the bus and planted the seed about potentially requesting a trade. Not Curry.

That said, the clock is ticking, and with LeBron James joining yet another team to one-up him before retirement, it might be time to make a decision.

Will he continue to be the good guy, even at the expense of the final years of his prime? Or will he finally make some demands for much-needed help? We shall see.
