Angel Reese was hyped by the debut of her new Atlanta Dream teammate and WNBA veteran DeWanna Bonner.

That excitement spilled over following the Dream’s 89-81 win over the league-leading Minnesota Lynx on Sunday at Gateway Center in College Park, Ga.

When asked in a postgame interview for her thoughts on Bonner’s Dream debut, Reese snuck in a wild way to describe the feeling.

“Her energy. I told her her first shot was going to hit like crack,” Reese said. “And it felt really good when she hit that [3-pointer] that I passed to her. It felt really good. So I’m really happy to have her.

She’s a great vet. And I’m super excited to when I get back to be with her more, in four more games to the playoffs.”

The 39-year-old Bonner started the 2026 WNBA season with the Phoenix Mercury. With Phoenix eliminated from playoff contention, Bonner and the Mercury agreed on a contract buyout to allow her to sign with a title contender. She later signed with the Dream, who have already secured a ticket to the postseason and are among those in the running to have home-court advantage in the first round.

Bonner immediately turned heads in Atlanta in her Dream debut, scoring seven points on 3/5 shooting with four rebounds, two assists and a steal in just 17 minutes of action off the bench against the Lynx.

As for Reese, she had another double-double, putting up 15 points and grabbing 11 boards, as Atlanta improved to 31-9.
