Dan Quinn sets the record straight on Commanders players’ reaction to Jayden Daniels’ injury

Washington Commanders star quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a dislocated elbow injury in Week 2 in a gruesome scene.

A video then circulated of Commanders players looking like they weren’t bothered by the injury, although head coach Dan Quinn fired back at the narrative in a strong way.

“It’s just the opposite — they were gutted. They love the guy,” Quinn said on Wednesday.

For the Commanders, it’s another concerning injury. Daniels played in just 7 games in 2025 due to several injuries, and Washington missed the postseason.

The Commanders were hoping to return to the postseason, and adding veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs was also a boost to the offense.

Washington is off to a 0-2 start with a two-point loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1 and a 17-point loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2.

Veteran Marcus Mariota filled in for Daniels again, and he is expected to be the QB for Washington until Daniels is ready to return.
