“Have you been victimized and lied to by a guy named Kyle?”

If you were, goes a recent social media video from Arizona Snowbowl, you’re entitled to compensation. And by compensation, the resort means another half week of skiing.

The silly send-up comes after Arizona Snowbowl ostensibly closed for the season last weekend. This week, though, at least six inches of fresh snow prompted the resort to reopen on Tuesday and Wednesday. The news that Arizona Snowbowl would remain open through Sunday, April 19, followed just afterward.

Kyle was presumably the guy in the original video announcing the first extension.

In a world of often buttoned-up ski area social media posts, we can’t help but appreciate one that takes a comedic angle. See the follow-up below.

What isn’t a joke, however, is Arizona Snowbowl’s ticket prices.

While only a small fraction of the resort’s slopes are open, paying five bucks—yes, five bucks—should make that a non-issue. You’ll want to act fast, though. Arizona Snowbowl prices its tickets based on demand, so they can and probably will increase in price.

The extension further solidifies Arizona Snowbowl as the kind of place committed to making the ski season last as long as possible. Last winter, it stayed open until June 1. The closing date meant that Arizona Snowbowl had beaten out other, better-known destinations in ski season duration. You can’t knock that.

This season, making it until June probably wasn’t possible. Arizona Snowbowl and other ski areas out West have struggled through an often snowless winter. All things considered, though, April 19 isn’t half bad.

Elsewhere, other western ski resorts like Palisades Tahoe, Mammoth Mountain, and Snowbird remain open.

California’s ski resorts are fresh off a recent storm that unexpectedly unlocked some tough terrain. Earlier this week, skiers ripped down Palisades Tahoe’s Chimney, a tricky and classic line.

That moment, alongside Arizona Snowbowl’s extension, offered a reminder: no matter how bad it gets, you should never count winter out.
