Max Allegri wants Adrien Rabiot, even if Yunus Musah isn’t sold, but the costs are outside the current Milan budget for both his salary and other issues.

The bond between the coach and his former Juventus midfielder is well known, so as soon as the split occurred with Olympique Marseille over the locker room brawl, the Rossoneri inevitably stepped forward.

We had confirmed as much on August 25, noting that while Napoli had asked for information, Milan were in there, and have increased their interest over the last few hours.

Their plan is to get a midfielder if Yunus Musah is sold, although it could be pursued even if he should stay.

Rabiot and Vlahovic on Allegri list

The problem is the same as the issue for Dusan Vlahovic, namely the salary cap and the other costs that put these players outside the budgetary constraints at San Siro.

The wages for Rabiot would be at least €5.5-6m per season, not including the commissions for the transfer from Olympique Marseille.

However, if Milan really do want to make a step up to another level, then they need to make some exceptions to those rules.

There isn’t much time left, and too much has already been wasted, yet Milan continue to look at other alternatives to the players Allegri actually wants.
