Champions League qualification has strengthened Manchester United’s position financially and given recruitment staff additional flexibility as they target both immediate improvements and long-term talent.
Several young players from across Europe have already been linked with moves to Old Trafford, with United keen to secure some of the game’s brightest prospects before their value rises even further.
One area the club continues to monitor closely is the wide attacking positions, despite the progress shown by players already in the squad.
However, one of United’s reported targets now appears to be edging closer to a move elsewhere.
Leicester City wonderkid Jeremy Monga is attracting serious interest following the Foxes’ dramatic fall down the English football pyramid.
After suffering relegation from the Premier League in 2025, Leicester’s problems worsened due to a points deduction and a disappointing Championship campaign that ultimately ended with another relegation, this time to League One.
The club’s financial situation has increased the likelihood of player departures, with a number of their most promising young talents now expected to attract offers from top-flight clubs.
Jeremy Monga has emerged as one of the most sought-after names, with Manchester United among the clubs to have explored a potential move.
United are understood to have already held discussions with Leicester City regarding the highly-rated winger, with initial talks focused on understanding the framework of a possible deal rather than advancing into formal negotiations.
But while United have been keeping a close eye on developments, Arsenal appear to have taken a significant step forward.
According to Hand of Arsenal, on X, the North London club have agreed personal terms with Monga after sporting director Andrea Berta held talks with the player.
The discussions are believed to have been positive enough for Arsenal to become the youngster’s preferred destination ahead of other interested clubs.
Arsenal’s push comes after a successful domestic campaign that saw them win the Premier League title during the 2025/26 season.
Although they narrowly missed out on European glory after losing the Champions League final to Paris Saint-Germain, Mikel Arteta’s side are continuing to strengthen their squad ahead of another challenge on multiple fronts.
For Manchester United, the situation remains one to watch closely.
The club’s admiration for Monga has not disappeared, but Arsenal’s progress means Old Trafford officials may need to act quickly if they hope to re-enter the race.
EXCL: Arsenal have now agreed full personal terms with Jeremy Monga. Still work to be done on the mechanism of his exit as the English Champions want to close the deal.
As I understand it, Berta met with the English teen sensation’s entourage and laid out a pathway similar…
