Brother of Tottenham's Serge Aurier killed in shooting

Christopher Aurier, the brother of Tottenham Hotspur right back Serge Aurier, was shot and killed in Toulouse, France early Monday morning.

Tottenham confirmed the news reported by ESPN and other outlets via an official club statement:

"The Club is deeply saddened to confirm media reports that Serge Aurier’s brother passed away in the early hours of this morning.

We are supporting Serge at this difficult time and we ask that the privacy of the player and his family is respected.

Everybody at the Club sends their sincerest condolences to Serge and his family. Our thoughts are with them all."

Aurier featured for Tottenham in their 2-1 win over North London rivals Arsenal on Sunday. It's unknown if he'll play over the team's final three games of the campaign.

Tottenham faces Newcastle United on Wednesday.
