Over the last few seasons, Inter Milan has shown that it is the best team in Italy. After Juve’s domination of the domestic game ended at the start of the 2020s, it has been Inter that has looked the most impressive and more likely to win trophies at home and abroad.

Two scudetti, two Coppa Italias, three Supercoppa Italia titles, and two appearances in the Champions League final prove that no other Serie A club has come close.

Even with a new head coach this season, Inter has continued to make the pace. Although a defeat to Bologna in December ended the chance to win four trophies this season, Cristian Chivu still has the opportunity to claim three titles in his first campaign at San Siro. Many of the best Canadian sportsbooks will have the Nerazzurri as favorites to win at least one of those competitions – but can they win it all?

As we hurtle into the second half of the Serie A season and the latter rounds of the cup competitions, Inter finds itself in a good place. But can it really win a second Serie A title in three years, another Coppa Italia, and – most coveted of all – the Champions League for the first time since 2010?

Inter Milan Season So Far

After a rare trophy-less season, Inter made a bold move in order to add to its long list of honours in 2025-26. A new head coach was the first piece of business, as former player Cristian Chivu took the reins, overseeing the team’s Club World Cup campaign in the US in the summer.

Possibly as a sign of what was an already settled squad, there was little in the way of transfers in the summer, and Inter began the Serie A campaign in style with a 5-0 thrashing of Torino. But some early defeats have shown that the Italian league is, once again, one of the most competitive in Europe and the campaign will be anything but easy for Inter.

Results have been largely positive since the early weeks of the season, with Inter still forging ahead on three fronts. The loss to the city rivals in the Derby della Madonnina was tough to take, but the Nerazzurri entered the second half of the season at the top of the league and they continue to be the ones to beat.

Battle Of Milan

As we have already mentioned, Serie A is as exciting and competitive as ever, with the likes of Napoli, Juventus, and even Roma, probably believing that there is still time to mount a serious challenge for the title.

But, with the greatest of respect to those clubs, it does feel as though it will be a straight battle between the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri.

The second Derby della Madonnina is obviously very important for Inter, but recent results against the old enemy have not been good.

Inter hasn’t won any of the last six meetings, but even another reverse should not end Inter’s chance of another scudetto.

The race for the title may be a little closer, but there is a healthy lead at the top for Chivu’s side at the moment, and this is a squad that is able to surpass these kinds of challenges.

Cup Win As A Sign For Inter Milan

The Supercopa Italiana may be over, but there is still a chance of cup success for Inter this season. It has been three years since the Nerazzurri last won the competition, and, at the time of writing, they are waiting to see whether it will be Napoli or Como to play in the semifinals of the Coppa Italia.

There are still some other good sides in the competition, but Inter could use a Coppa Italia triumph as a stepping stone to further glory this season. The final takes place with just a few games left in the league campaign, and – hopefully – still the semifinal and the final of the Champions League to play.

That fixture congestion could pose a problem, so exiting the competition would not be the worst thing in the world if Inter could then go on to win other titles. But winning trophies breeds confidence, and that could make all the difference once May comes around.

Champions League Glory

Most Inter fans will tell you that there is a very good chance that their team will win both the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia. But it is the Champions League that poses the biggest test of all. Inter is undoubtedly one of the best sides in the competition every year, but performances in the final in recent seasons have suggested that there is still a way to go.

Although the defeat to Manchester City in 2023 was not as bad as many pundits had previously predicted, the 5-0 loss to a rampant PSG last season might have been one to knock the team off track.

It is a great credit to the players that this season’s Champions League campaign started so well. Only an incredibly tough set of fixtures has forced Inter into an extra playoff tie.

Bodø/Glimt might be the surprise team of the year, but Inter should be confident of progressing to the later knockout rounds, where Sporting or Manchester City await. Revenge for the 2023 final would be sweet, but any team that Inter come up against from that moment on will be truly elite level.

There will be some who say that a Champions League triumph is beyond Inter at the current time, and to concentrate on domestic honours.

Chivu and his players will obviously try to win everything they can this year. But if it does end up with just two new trophies in the cabinet, it should be regarded as another successful season for the Nerazzurri – and one to cement Inter’s place at the top of Italian football.
