Manchester United and Aston Villa Continue Deadline Day Discussions

Jadon Sancho and Emi Martinez Talks Ongoing

Despite losing to Arsenal on the opening weekend of the season, it was an encouraging performance – but since then, it’s not been positive. A last-gasp Bruno Fernandes penalty has not papered over the cracks that major improvements are still needed.

Martinez appears destined for Old Trafford, with personal terms agreed with Manchester United. Despite the interest in Martinez, the Red Devils are keeping talks active regarding a move for Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens, who is also an Aston Villa target should Martinez leave.

Jadon Sancho came to Manchester United with plenty of potential, but it’s largely been a frustrating time for the England international, who spent last season on loan at Chelsea, where a permanent move failed to materialise. It now appears the talented yet frustrating winger could remain in the Premier League, with discussions continuing between Man Utd and Villa over a deal for the 25-year-old.

It’s not been a great start for both clubs, but it feels Martinez wants the move to Old Trafford, which should trigger the deal for Lemmens to sign for Aston Villa. The question remains regarding Jadon Sancho. An immensely talented player on his day, but has been far too inconsistent so far in his career. Could this be the move he needs to reignite his career?

Martinez is an exceptional shot stopper with great distribution. He would provide a huge boost to Manchester United, who are already making too many mistakes defensively.
