Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez is widely recognised for a career that took him across Europe and the United States, featuring spells with Manchester United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy.

The Mexican striker shared a dressing room with Cristiano Ronaldo during the 2014-15 season at Real Madrid. Although that period was brief, it left a lasting impression.

Even in a short time, Hernandez was able to observe the habits and mindset that defined Ronaldo’s success. Years later, those lessons still stand out when reflecting on elite standards.

Hernandez recently answered a fan question on his Instagram stories, offering a clear and direct response.

“The best player you learned from? Wow. Well, Cristiano Ronaldo. What I learned from him was his perseverance, his discipline, and his professionalism,” the 37-year-old stated.

His comments reinforce Ronaldo’s long-established reputation for relentless work ethic. That approach has been central to maintaining elite performance levels deep into his career.

Even at 41, Ronaldo continues to deliver strong numbers, a reflection of the consistency built through years of discipline and focus.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s discipline could drive final World Cup push

Ronaldo’s longevity places him in a rare position ahead of the next World Cup.

If selected, he would compete at 41, a possibility made realistic by the physical standards he has maintained throughout his career.

That same discipline now underpins his pursuit of football’s biggest prize, one that has previously eluded him.

Should he succeed, Ronaldo could surpass Dino Zoff, who lifted the 1982 World Cup, and become the oldest winner in the tournament’s history.
