Final Premier League Team of the Week XI

That’s it! The 2025/26 Premier League season is over. Arsenal have won the title, Tottenham Hotspur have narrowly avoided relegation, while West Ham United have been condemned to the depths of the Championship.

Who made it into our final Premier League team of the week? With big wins for Manchester United, Arsenal and Aston Villa, there were plenty of top players to choose from, but who were included in our last cut?

GK: Mads Hermansen

Considering West Ham’s relegation at the conclusion of the final day, it seems odd to put Mads Hermansen in this XI – he won’t be the only Hammers player to be included, either.

West Ham largely dominated Leeds United, though the Whites were able to rattle off a few shots on target – nevertheless, Hermansen was equal to everything they could throw at him.

RB: Pedro Porro

This was a do or die game for Tottenham. A point would’ve guaranteed their safety, but they went one step beyond and defeated Everton to secure their Premier League status for another year – Pedro Porro stepped up the plate when it mattered most.

Defensively, Porro has grown a lot over the past few years. He put all of his accumulated defensive acumen to use against the Toffees, keeping them quiet down their left flank for the duration of the outing.

CB: Issa Diop

Issa Dip has had a quiet season for Fulham, making just 13 Premier League appearances over the course of the campaign, but he was the star of the show against Newcastle United on the last day.

He scored the Cottagers’ first goal of the game and kept a clean sheet in doing so – in a gameweek where only four teams out of 20 managed to keep clean sheets, this was more than enough for him to land a spot in the XI.

CB: Luke O’Nien

Like Diop, Luke O’Nien has also struggled for gametime in 2025/26. This much should be evident – we had to use a picture of him from 2021 for this XI!

He won a crucial offensive header to create the assist to give Sunderland the lead in the first half. O’Nien has been with Sunderland since their League One days – his overall contribution to the club cannot be overstated.

LB: Adrien Truffert

What a season Bournemouth have had. Just over 15 years ago, they were toiling in League Two – now, they’ll be playing European football next season.

Adrien Truffert was at his brilliant best against Nottingham Forest. While the Cherries were unable to secure a win at the City Ground, he teed up Marcus Tavernier to rescue a point for Andoni Iraola’s men in his last game in charge.

CM: Joao Palhinha

Joao Palhinha etched his name into Tottenham Hotspur folklore on Sunday afternoon. In the blistering bank holiday heat, Palhinha scrambled the ball into the back of the net in a 1-0 win against Everton – it wasn’t pretty, but Spurs fans will not care one jot.

This has been a thoroughly miserable campaign for Tottenham – now that all is said and done, Palhinha is one of few players who can hold their head up high at the conclusion of the campaign.

CM: Mateus Fernandes

We’ll be very, very surprised if Mateus Fernandes is still a West Ham player by the start of next season – sadly, a player of his ability is simply far too good to be messing around in the Championship.

He was typically brilliant against Leeds. Making five successful tackles and racking up an assist, he’ll be one of the most coveted players in the summer transfer window.

RW: Jarrod Bowen

Like Fernandes, Bowen is also much too talented to be playing in England’s second tier. Losing him will be a heartbreaking moment for West Ham fans, but it is something they must brace themselves for.

Scoring a goal and racking up an assist, Bowen sent out a clear message to Thomas Tuchel after he was left out of the England World Cup squad.

AM: Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes broke the Premier League assists record in Manchester United’s impressive 3-0 away win at Brighton – he didn’t make it into our XI for that alone, however.

Not only did he notch up an assist, he also scored the Red Devils’ first goal of the game against the Seagulls, securing their third-placed finish.

LW: Patrick Dorgu

Patrick Dorgu’s transformation from a mediocre left-back to a top-class winger has been an interesting story to follow this season – his talents were on full display against Brighton.

Similarly to his teammate who we just spoke about, he also scored a goal and totted up an assist at the Amex Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

ST: Ollie Watkins

Ollie Watkins burst into life for the final two thirds of the Premier League season. Just in time, too – not only have Aston Villa won the Europa League, they’ve also secured a top four finish.

The England international scored a brace against Manchester City, giving the Villans a suprise win at the Etihad Stadium on the final day.
