Inter Miami Coach Provides Update

Germán Berterame suffered a serious injury during Inter Miami's MLS match against CF Montréal after the forward collapsed on the field following a head-to-head collision.

The incident occurred in the 69th minute when Berterame challenged for a cross inside the penalty area and collided with CF Montréal defender Efraín Morales. The Mexican international fell to the ground, prompting players from both teams to immediately signal for medical assistance.

After receiving extensive treatment on the field during a lengthy stoppage, the 27-year-old was placed on a stretcher and taken off the field in an ambulance.

Following the match, Inter Miami head coach Guillermo Hoyos provided a positive update on the forward's condition.

Speaking to the media, Hoyos said Berterame was conscious and recovering despite the heavy collision.

“Berterame is conscious and doing well. The blow was very hard, but he is recovering," the coach said.

Hoyos also confirmed that Berterame's family had been informed about his condition, adding that the incident was frightening for everyone involved.

"His family has been informed of everything. We didn't know what to do; it was a very desperate situation."

Luis Suárez Shares Message for Berterame

Luis Suárez scored from the penalty spot in the 81st minute after the foul that led to Berterame's injury. Following the goal, the former Barcelona star paid tribute to his teammate by holding up Berterame's No. 19 jersey.

Suarez later shared a heartfelt message on social media. Posting a photo of himself raising Berterame's jersey on his Instagram story, Suárez wrote, "We’re with you," in a show of support for the injured forward.

As of now, the club has not released any additional official update beyond the information Hoyos shared after the match.

While Lionel Messi is yet to return, the fixture saw the debut of Casemiro after his free transfer from Manchester United. The Brazilian played the full 90 minutes and was recently involved in his national team's World Cup run, where they were eliminated in the Round of 16.

Following the win over CF Montréal, the Herons sit second in the Eastern Conference with 37 points, two points behind leaders Nashville SC.
