Luis Suárez and multiple Inter Miami players were involved in a brawl after the final whistle in the Leagues Cup final against the Seattle Sounders. Fans and specialists are calling for suspensions, while some players refuse to talk about what happened on the field.
A few minutes after Paul Rothrock scored the third and final goal of the match, giving the Sounders a 3-0 victory over Inter Miami, all hell broke loose. Suárez spit on a member of Seattle's coaching staff, center back Tomás Ávila and midfielder Sergio Busquets threw punches at opposing players, and defender Maximiliano Falcón had right-back Cody Barker in a chokehold.
Once things calmed down and the players were back in the locker rooms preparing to leave Lumen Field, Inter Miami goalkeeper Óscar Ustari was asked about the incident with Suárez. He didn’t say much, instead standing by his teammate and defending him.
"Honestly, I saw that there was a crowd of people, but I can't tell you anything. I was there with Luis because there was even a person standing there who didn’t want to leave and was kind of encouraging things to continue. I don't want to say anything about it, because I didn’t see anything," Ustari said in a post-match interview.
So far, MLS has not issued any suspensions for Suárez, Ávila, or the other players involved in the brawl after the Leagues Cup final.

Inter Miami will now return to the MLS regular season, hoping to improve their record. The team currently sits in 6th place, inside the playoff zone, but could still be pushed out if results don’t get better. Columbus Crew is tied on points in 7th, New York City trails with 44 points, and the New York Red Bulls follow with 40.
With nine games left on the schedule, Miami will face the Sounders again on September 16 at home. A playoff spot could be secured before the end of the season, but only if the team improves and climbs higher in the standings.
