Italy international Gianluca Scamacca could be in-line to make his long-awaited comeback from a cruciate ligament (ACL) injury when Atalanta face Torino in Serie A this weekend following Gian Piero Gasperini’s latest squad announcement.

Scamacca back in Atalanta squad for the first time this season

Gasperini has included Scamacca in his squad of 23 players for the upcoming match against Torino in Serie A on Saturday afternoon.

The Italy international has not featured in a competitive match for club or country at any stage of the 2024-25 season after suffering a serious injury to his knee in a pre-season friendly against Parma at the beginning of August.

He caught his studs in the turf at the Stadio Tardini and caused some serious damage to the ligaments in his knee as a result.

It has been 180 days since that injury, and Scamacca is now fit enough to be included among the matchday squad in Serie A for the first time this season.
