Jamie Vardy has officially completed his move to Serie A side Cremonese, arriving as a free agent after 13 years at Leicester City.

The England international was mobbed by fans at the airport in Milan on Sunday night, had his medical tests in the city, then made the short journey to Cremona on Monday evening.

He put pen to paper on a one-year contract, with option to extend for a further season.

The reason he posed next to a violin is because Cremona is known as the City of Violins, for their history or artisan instruments.

Serie A surprise for Vardy

Vardy is 38 years old and was a free agent after his contract with Leicester City was allowed to expire following their relegation from the Premier League.

He was a true club legend, remaining for 13 years where he scored 200 goals in 500 competitive games, famously winning the Premier League title under Claudio Ranieri in 2015-16.

Vardy was also top scorer of the Premier League in 2019-20 with 23 goals during that season.

Now he comes to Cremonese, a small club that has just earned promotion to Serie A via the play-offs.

Yet they had a great start to the season without him, beating Milan 2-1 at San Siro and defeating Sassuolo 3-2 to be joint top of the table after two rounds.
