Liga MX Star Keen to Join Lionel Messi at Inter Miami

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami won their most recent game against the Columbus Crew 5-1. The Argentine scored twice during the match.

Apart from Messi, the Herons have other superstar players like Jordi Alba, Luis Suarez, and Sergio Busquets in their ranks.

Inter Miami, however, haven't performed at their best level so far this season. They are third in the Eastern Conference with 29 points from 16 matches.

Javier Mascherano is looking to bolster his team's ranks, and Liga MX star Brian Rodriguez has now emerged as an option for the MLS club.

Rodriguez currently plays for Club America and the winger has scored 10 goals and set up nine more in 34 appearances across competitions this season.

Rodriguez has now expressed his interest in joining Messi and other superstar names in Miami.

The 25-year-old Uruguayan said: "Inter Miami's interest is real. We've been talking about it for a couple of weeks. I spoke with Luis Suárez about the club and it was an honor to talk to him."

Rodriguez added that he has a possible option to move to Spain but the opportunity to play alongside Lionel Messi might be too alluring for him.

He added: "There is a possibility of going to Spain, I prefer to go to Spain, but on the other side is going to play with Suárez and Messi, that weighs on me. I'm also going to talk to Marcelo [Bielsa, Uruguay manager] to see what he thinks. I've already spoken to him before about a possible move to Fiorentina, he spoke to Fiorentina at the time."

Rodriguez is well aware of the ins and outs of US Soccer, having previously played with LAFC.

He made 65 appearances for the Los Angeles club, scoring nine times and providing 14 assists. The Urguayan's future is worth keeping an eye on.
