Manager reveals how they managed to beat Arsenal

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has spoken about their 3-0 win against Arsenal over the weekend, explaining how the Seagulls showed exactly how the Gunners can be beaten.

Arsenal have not been used to losing games, and they certainly have not been accustomed to suffering defeats in the manner they did against Brighton before the international break. The result was a major setback for the Gunners.

The Seagulls stunned the league champions and made them look ordinary for most of the match, as the Gunners could not find a way to stop Brighton’s assault or cause the home side enough problems.

Brighton’s approach against Arsenal

Hurzeler was asked about that performance a few days later and explained the approach his team took during the match. He focused on the importance of winning the small battles before trying to create opportunities.

He said via Metro Sport:

‘Our approach was that we focused really on us and our approach was we want to win the small battles first.

‘Win the first header, win the first tackle, win the first throw in, win the first corner.

‘It sounds a bit old school but that really was our approach because when you win these small battles, then you grow into the game and then you can create a bigger chance.’
