Manchester United agree to friendly game in international break

Manchester United’s schedule for the next couple of weeks appears largely clear, with the international break meaning that Premier League has been halted for the time being.

For Michael Carrick’s side, this break arguably comes at a good time.

Just five points have come from the team’s opening five Premier League fixtures whilst the side were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Brighton and Hove Albion.

Major reconsideration and reflection may be needed during the international break, both for those on duty with their nations and those that have not been selected.

Blick have now revealed INEOS’ next steps with Lausanne-Sport, another club that the company owns, set to travel to Manchester United to face them in an international-break friendly.

The publication have noted that this will take place between Lausanne-Sport and one of United’s youth teams, though, with no details emerging on INEOS’ plan for United’s first team.

It also remains unclear when the fixture will take place exactly, and where it will be held.

In a similar context to Manchester United, Lausanne have struggled so far this season, winning one of nine games in Switzerland’s Super League.

Those results see the side bottom of the league currently, with serious reflection and lessons needed if the club are to succeed after the international break.

For the Swiss team, therefore, this fixture could represent a chance for the side to get back on the right track whilst helping one of Manchester United’s youth teams gain further experience against senior opposition.

On the surface, this appears to be a simple friendly between two sister clubs. Under that cover, however, this is a chance for both clubs to benefit in different ways.

Taking that opportunity and making the most of it will arguably be essential for both.
