Lazio were forced to drop two of their senior players from the Serie A squad list, and Maurizio Sarri has rendered his decision.

With the summer transfer market coming to an end, Italian clubs had to hand down their final squads, as they’re only allowed to register a maximum of 25 players above the age of 22, including four club-trained players (academy products), and four players trained in Italy.

Due to the lack of Lazio youth products in the first team, Sarri has only been able to include 23 players in his final list. The coach had already admitted that he plans to cut Samuel Gigot, who is dealing with a potentially long-term injury problem.

On Monday, the Aquile revealed their selections through a statement published on the club’s official website, and as expected, Toma Basic turned out to be the second omission. So here is the full 23-man list, which doesn’t include Under-22 players like Reda Belahyane and Oliver Provstgaard.

3 Pellegrini

4 Patric

5 Vecino

6 Rovella

7 Dele-Bashiru

8 Guendouzi

It should be noted that the club is still allowed to make two changes between September and December. Afterwards, they’ll be able to make unlimited changes during the January transfer window, before once again settling on a squad at the start of February.
