Luka Vuskovic has now revealed that he had opportunities to join multiple clubs, but he chose to join Tottenham Hotspur.
The defender has now explained in an interview with Germanijak why he decided to join the Premier League club and what they told him in order to convince him regarding the move. The 18-year-old has revealed that he did not want to be just another player at a new club. Tottenham had a clear plan for his development, and they have a role in mind for the talented young defender.
His importance to the project at the north London club convinced the player to join them.
He said via The Standard: “I didn’t want to be just a number. At Tottenham, they told me what they expected and offered in terms of sport and that prevailed, the plan they put before me.”
Vuskovic was quite impressive during the pre-season preparations with Tottenham, but he has chosen to head out on loan to Hamburg so that he can play regularly. The defender needs regular gametime in order to continue his development.
He will look to establish himself as a key player for Tottenham in future. However, he is not ready to start ahead of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven just yet. It makes sense for the young defender to go out on loan and continue his development with regular football.
He showed glimpses of his potential during pre-season, and there is no doubt that he could develop into a quality player for the club. It remains to be seen whether he can make his mark in Germany and establish himself as an important player for Hamburg now.
Tottenham will be hoping to nurture him into a future star. Sitting on the bench at the London club would be detrimental to his growth. The loan move could do wonders for him.
