Davide Frattesi and Sandro Tonali share the same agent, Beppe Riso, who already pushed for the Inter midfielder’s exit in the January transfer window.

Sky Sport Italia has reported that Newcastle have resumed talks with Inter for Frattesi, suggesting that the Nerazzurri may be open to discussing a deal.

It’s not the first time that Frattesi has been linked with leaving Inter in recent months.

Frattesi’s agent already pushed for Inter exit

Earlier this summer, there had been reports about enquiries from Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Newcastle, while his agent had discussed a possible move to Roma in January.

Riso, the agent of both Frattesi and Tonali, even admitted that he had been trying to bring Frattesi away from Inter in the winter transfer window.

“It was my idea,” Riso said in February.

“Or, if you prefer, my push. I saw Davide feeling down because he expected to play more, and I felt bad about it. So, I started working to find alternatives for him, not just in Italy.”

Frattesi didn’t publicly push to leave Inter, but his representative worked behind the scenes, given that his client was not a regular starter under Simone Inzaghi.

Frattesi still not an Inter starter

Despite that, Frattesi still made 56 appearances with Inter in 2024-25, playing nearly 2,000 minutes across all competitions and scoring crucial Champions League goals against Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

However, 19 of his 36 Serie A appearances last season came as a substitute from the bench, and even if reports this summer suggested Cristian Chivu was ready to rely more on Frattesi this term, the Italian was an unused substitute in a 5-0 win over Torino last weekend.

Frattesi has 15 goals in 89 appearances with Inter, and his contract at San Siro expires in June 2028.
